salesElement Speaks

New YorkNovember 28, 2007—David Johnson, SVP of salesElement, spoke at the Jacob Javits Center about the importance of writing clear and concise proposals, which in turn increase win rates.

David Johnson was asked to lecture a group of over 100 attendees of the NY Expo because he has more than 20 years of marketing and sales experience. He provided the audience with a set of rules to use to create more effective sales documents.

"How you write a proposal affects how customers perceive your business, and directly affects the bottom line." said David. The group, which consisted of small business executives from all over the US, attended the seminar to gain insight on how to win more business. David continued, "The software takes you pretty far, and you can use the best and the brightest in the company to disseminate their knowledge; but at some point you are going to have to put your own thoughts down, and if you can do that clearly and quickly, you have the best chance of cutting through the clutter."

The seminar touched on topics including the importance of graphic design elements in proposals, and making sure you don't clutter the proposal or use jargon that may confuse the reader.

The response from the audience was extremely positive and many attendees approached David after the meeting thanking him for the many "take-aways" he provided. Said one attendee, "I had never seen this information laid out like that before, it really gives me a lot to think about, and I think it will change the way I will approach proposals and brochure writing for my textile business from now on."
